Vampire Dreams by Gabrielle Bisset

Homeless and without any family, Arden Stephens must live on the streets of mid 19th century London, never a safe place for a young woman. This is a love story with a dose of vampirism to add a twist.  Arden and Brandon, the main characters of the novel, endear themselves to the reader.  They are both very likable characters with plenty of good qualities: Arden is resourceful and kind while Brandon is compassionate and loving.  Arden is forced to live on the streets due to unfortunate circumstances.  Brandon comes across her and offers her a place to work and live in his lavish home.  As Arden works for her employer, she slowly begins to fall in love with him.  Little does she know that Brandon has a very different lifestyle than any she could have imagined.  Brandon wishes for Arden's love and friendship, however, in order to make his wish possible he must contact and convince his "sire" that Arden is capable of being a vampire.  His sire makes for an interesting secondary character, he is grouchy, mean, and very self-centered.  The sire is not particularly impressed with Brandon's love for Arden.  The story continues from there with fast-paced events and passionate love scenes.  The plot is not particularly unique, but it does the book justice.  The characters are fun to read about and get to know.  The setting is perfect for this novel.  The ending does not leave the reader on that dreaded cliff-hanger.  This book is recommended for adults, especially females, who enjoy a little vampirism with their romance.
