Hunters & Prey (Immortalis, #2): Katie Salidas

Thursday, June 2, 2011
The exciting sequel to Immortalis Carpe Noctem.

Rule number one: humans and vampires don't co-exist. One is the hunter and one is the prey. Simple, right? Not for newly-turned vampire Alyssa. A surprise confrontation with Santino Vitale, the Acta Sanctorum's most fearsome hunter, sends her fleeing back to the world she once knew, and Fallon, the human friend she's missed more than anything. Now she has some explaining to do. However, that will have to wait. With the Acta Sanctorum hot on their heels, staying alive is more important than educating a human on the finer points of bloodlust

Good Reads Summary

This novel is just as exciting as the first.  Alyssa is a new vampire who still hasn't quite learned the ropes yet.  With Alyssa's strong personality and determination one might assume it would be easy to learn how to be a good vampire...for Alyssa, it is not as easy as she would have hope.  The reader will enjoy reading about how she muddles through vampirehood and experiences loss when she cannot easily reconnect with her human friends, especially her BFF, Fallon.  The reader will be happy to see the re-appearance of Fallon in the newest novel.  She accidentally bumps into Fallon after one of their huge blow-outs, she has to explain that she is a vampire...which is breaking the law.  By breaking the law, both Alyssa and Fallon are "in trouble" and the book really begins to fly by as Alyssa must turn to her clan and Nicholas for help.  The action is intriguing and will keep the reader turning the pages, the characters are well-developed and the reader will like their personality quirks, and the plot is a new twist on vampires.  This novel is terrific for adults who enjoy the paranormal side of books.
