Tidal by Amanda Hocking

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

With Penn and Lexi determined to kill Gemma and replace her with another siren, Gemma's life is in grave danger...unless she can break the curse before it's too late. With the help of Harper and Daniel, she'll delve deep into her enemies' mythical past--and their darkest secrets. It's her only hope of saving everything she holds dear: her family, her life, and her relationship with Alex--the only guy she's ever loved.

Goodreads Blurb

Although reunited with her family, Gemma has yet to be free of the siren curse.  Time is running out and the sisters have to find a way to break the curse.  Death appears to be the only option.  Adding to their difficulties…. Penn is wise to Gemma’s and Harper’s plan.  Penn is cruel and horrible with a will of iron; she also is after Daniel, who strangely can resist falling under her spell.
As much as I loved the cover of Tidal, I did not enjoy the story.  I felt sympathy for Harper and was frustrated by Gemma and her lack of forethought.  She never seems to learn from her experiences; maybe in Hocking’s next novel, Gemma will mature.  The look into the sirens’ past was interesting and somewhat enlightening.  I enjoyed learning about their history.
Tidal is a book that I could easily imagine most teen girls reading.  Hocking has a descriptive writing style that is well-suited to young adult readers.

I've read two books in Amanda's Trylle trilogy but I haven't read any of her other books. The cover for Tidal is so pretty! I'm sort of in love with it! Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the story much. Tidal is probably the second or third book. I might have to check out the first book in the series. Great review, thank you! =D
