AfterLife by Hank Hanegraaff

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

The simple yet thrilling truth about what really happens to us and those we love when we die.

If there was ever a need-to-know audio book, AfterLife is it. On his daily call-in radio show, the most common questions Hanegraaff fields are about the hereafter. For instance, millions are voraciously reading about the near-death experience of young children. Consumers are desperate for knowledge and reassurance about what comes after life on the earth.

Hank Hanegraaff, one of the most remarkable theological minds of the 21st century, explains the marvelous way this physical life connects our past to our eternal future. AfterLife give the listener a clear and concrete understanding about what happens after death and to those we love.
Goodreads Summary

Who doesn't wonder about life after death?  Have you ever questioned whether or not you might see a favorite pet in Heaven?  Where *is* Heaven anyway?  Exactly how old will we be in Heaven?  These questions, and many more, are addressed in Afterlife.  Author Hank Hanegraaff answers questions that the reader might have, but doesn't know how to voice.  We all wonder about death and what occurs after, but how many of us have put serious time into separating the facts from the rumors?  Hanegraaff  compiles a book based on what is definitively (within reason) known about the afterlife versus what is said about the afterlife; he divides his book into neatly contained chapters that are easy to navigate.

This book does give the reader a certain sense of reassurance.  If a reader expects doom and gloom, he/she won't find that type of emotion evoked here.  The author remains upbeat about the "future."  It is important to note that the author bases some of his knowledge on this topic from his own brush with death, providing the reader with a sense of credibility.  As far as the religious aspect, though this book is clearly based on the Bible, non-religious readers will still find this book a good read.  The influence of Christianity is not so heavily emphasized that a reader who would rather avoid that genre could not read this book.  The arguments behind the author's assertions were logical and concise, for the most part.  Overall, this book is recommended to adult readers interested in knowing more about the afterlife.

  1. Thank you, Rachel, for reading and so very thoughtfully reviewing AfterLife! I especially appreciate your observation that Hank clearly distinguishes between what we can confidently know about heaven and hell on the basis of Scripture and what is sheer speculation. I whole-heartedly agree with you that non-Christians will enjoy and benefit from this book as well!

This is quite interesting that a book could be written about the afterlife that even non-Christians could enjoy? I will have to check this out! Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this. My son is asking me questions about the hereafter. He has been watching documentaries about this topic and my knowledge and my answers to his questions sometimes do not satisfy him. This book will give me the much needed new insights. :)
