Bestselling Author Mary Connealy Delivers Her Trademark Historical Romantic Comedy
Seth Kincaid survived a fire in a cave, but he's never been the same. He was always a reckless youth, but now he's gone over the edge. He ran off to the Civil War and came back crazier than ever.
After the war, nearly dead from his injuries, it appears Seth got married. Oh, he's got a lot of excuses, but his wife isn't happy to find out Seth doesn't remember her. Callie has searched, prayed, and worried. Now she's come to the Kincaid family's ranch in Colorado to find her lost husband.
Callie isn't a long-suffering woman. Once she knows her husband is alive, she wants to kill him. She's not even close to forgiving him for abandoning her.
Then more trouble shows up in the form of a secret Seth's pa kept for years. The Kincaid brothers might lose their ranch if they can't sort things out. It's enough to drive a man insane--but somehow it's all making Seth see things more clearly. And now that he knows what he wants, no one better stand in his way.
Goodreads Summary
If readers are looking for a female character with spunk they need not look any further. Callie is one tough cookie. She survives the Civil War and her husband's odd disappearance and will not be broken by her husband's, Seth's, inability to remember her. Does Seth have an excuse for this abandonment? Well, he has excuses in the form of injuries. Seth has some internal/mental problems that must be dealt with before Callie can take on her threat of shooting him for leaving her. Can the two come to some resolution?
Callie's character was fun and easy to love. She shows bravery in a time where women were not known for being outspoken. Seth's character was slightly more complicated. He was a little harder to get to know, but the reader will likely come to appreciate him. The other characters fit perfectly into the novel's plot and often bring about surprises that will keep the reader avidly turning the pages.
The plot itself was easy to follow and character-driven. The events are fast-paced for the most part and the author has a keen eye for detail, allowing the reader to picture the setting. Overall, this book is recommended to adult readers.

About Me

- I'm a young college student who has probably read over 5000 books over the course of my short life; some of the books were classics, some of the books were terrific, and some of the books were...misses. Even with the latter part I will always believe in the power of books to completely remove the reader from his/her present reality. Long Live Books! I would love to read and review books from just about any genre. To contact me: edysicecreamlover18 AT gmail DOT com Thank you for your interest! At this time, I can only accept paperback or hardcover. The finished review copies I receive are either kept in my personal collection or donated to several libaries, schools, or charities-I have no control over the finished review copies after donation. *I claim no ownership for any images used on this site.
