A haunted house, a buried mystery, and a very angry ghost make this one unforgettable thriller.

Goodreads Summary
Kim Harrington wrote a great mystery novel full of twists and turns. Jade and her family have just moved into a new house in a great neighborhood. The home is a stereotypical dream house and Jade is too happy to question how her family was able to afford it. Imagine her surprise when she learns at school that she is living in the house of a girl who was killed on her home’s staircase. If a murder will not drop the price of a house, what will? Kayla, the murdered girl, was cruel and had reigned supreme until her demise. Now, Kayla refuses to rest in peace and will threaten Jade’s younger brother until her killer is brought to justice.
I was not surprised by how this novel played out, but do think that The Dead and Buried is worth a read. Harrington’s cast of characters was excellent. Jade is quirky, funny, and dedicated to her family. Reading about her fight to save the people she cares about left me feeling happy despite all the problems she faced. There were points where I was disappointed that she did not speak up, however. Kayla is terrifying. The girl has almost no morals and is vicious in her quest to get what she wants. The excerpts from her diary were some of my favorite parts of the book. I kind of hope that Kim Harrington writes a book with Kayla as the main character, it would be an interesting read.
Teen girls and anyone who likes mystery would probably not regret picking up a copy of The Dead and Buried. Although the plot is not very complicated, the characters are worth meeting.
