Long ago, a prophecy was foreseen. A child would be born, a child who held the power to destroy the world. Now, it is up to Alexander Lucas, a one-hundred-year-old vampire, to keep the baby girl safe from his arch enemy Malcolm. In order to save her, Alexander must raise the child as his own. Will he be able to resist his vampire tendencies to care for a human baby? With the help of the wisest of the supernatural, an organization called The Great Council, Alexander must face many battles to ensure the safety of this very special child.

Balancing Life and Writing.
Hello everyone! This is only the second guest blog post I've ever done and to be quite honest I didn't know what to talk about. But, I decided that telling people about how I balance life and writing would be a good topic, considering that I have five children.
I guess you could say this post is going to be like one of those “A Day in the Life of” things.

So, here we go!

Life for me consists of my husband and kids. For the last year my husband has been deployed and I have been taking care of everything by myself. Luckily, I have a fifteen year old who is a really big help. Depending on if it is summer or school is in, my days will differ. In the summer I hardly get anything written because all the kids are home all day long and my day consists of “I'm hungry!” “She hit me!” and “Mom the baby needs a diaper change!”

School days are another story. I do have the two little ones who are three and one year old, but it's pretty quiet for the most part. When I wake up there is a big rush for about forty-five minutes while I get the kids ready for school, make coffee (my life force!) and boot up the computer. During this time we are normally very lucky if the baby and the three year old don't wake up, because normally they do.

After all the kids have gone to school, I make breakfast for the other kids and check my email while they eat. The rest of the day is sort of like that. I just try to get as much done when they are playing good, eating, or sleeping.

After school lets out it is another big rush for about four hours while we do homework, take baths, cook and eat dinner, then get everyone put down for bed. You don't even wanna know how I feel after doing all that. I'm exhausted just thinking about it after writing it down.

Nights are my special time when I normally get most of my writing done. I have a really hard time writing anything if the house is messy so I usually make sure the area I'm working in is straightened up and get to work.

It isn't always as easy as it sounds to do this though. There is always, always one kid who doesn't want to sleep, or one who needs a drink of water, while another one has to pee, then they wake the baby up and we have to go through the whole process again and then I'm exhausted by the time I get them back to sleep.

During the daytime is when I do a lot of my social networking and actually don't get much real writing done. I consider the social networking just as much part of my work as the writing. Same goes for promoting, blogging, working on my website, and a million other little things that need to be done.

People always ask me how I manage to get anything done at all. Sometimes I wonder the same thing, but the truth is that I have just had to adapt to writing whenever and wherever I can.

Well, I know this post was sort of all over the place, but it gives you an insight into how I balance life with five kids and trying to build a writing career.
