BEING FRIENDS WITH BOYS
Charlotte and Oliver have been friends forever. She knows that he, Abe, and Trip consider her to be one of the guys, and she likes it that way. She likes being the friend who keeps them all together. Likes offering a girl’s perspective on their love lives. Likes being the behind-the-scenes wordsmith who writes all the lyrics for the boys’ band. Char has a house full of stepsisters and a past full of backstabbing (female) ex–best friends, so for her, being friends with boys is refreshingly drama-free…until it isn’t anymore.
When a new boy enters the scene and makes Char feel like, well, a total girl…and two of her other friends have a falling out that may or may not be related to one of them deciding he might want to be
more than friends with Char…being friends with all these boys suddenly becomes a lot more complicated.
SUMMER OF FIRSTS AND LASTS:
Three sisters. One life-changing summer.
Calla loves summer because summer means Duncan. They’ve been best friends for years, but Calla has never worked up the nerve to tell him how she really feels. This summer, the summer before college, is Calla’s last chance.
Violet isn’t much of a rule breaker in real life. But this isn’t real life, this is summer, and Violet is determined to make the most of it. Besides, a little sneaking out never hurt anyone. And sneaking out with James is 100% worth the risk...even though James is completely off-limits.
Daisy has never been the sister that boys notice, but when sparks fly with Joel at the first bonfire of summer, it seems so easy and right. So why is being his girlfriend so complicated?
Here in Atlanta, the light is shifting and the temperatures
are cooling, but it’s still plenty warm enough to sit in the sunshine with a
short sleeved shirt, maybe play a last game of volleyball. It’s not quite
Summer any more, but not quite fully Autumn yet, either. So I thought I’d offer
you all (through Krystal Larson, who is the Guru of Giveaways) a similar
package: a personalized copy of BOTH Being
Friends with Boys and The Summer of
Firsts and Lasts.
To help you further enjoy this time-between-the-seasons,
here’s my own personal recipe for a treat that combines the yumminess of both
books: The Jolson’s Pride Coffee-Chocolate Malt*.
Enjoy!
JOLSON’S PRIDE COFFEE-CHOCOLATE MALT
(1 serving; 2 if you’re nice)
2 big scoops Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream
Enough of a healthy splash of milk to make things liquidy
when blended (Start with 1/3 cup and add just a little more at a time if
necessary)
Two big ploppy squirts of Hershey’s chocolate syrup
Two heaping tablespoons of Malted Milk (more to taste, if you
wish)
Blend everything up in the blender, stick a straw in it, and
get ready to make another.
* Jolson’s Pride is what we named our house, after our cat,
Al Jolson.

Both of them look wonderful! Thank you for the giveaway.
