Recipe for Trouble: The Cupcake Club

Meet Lexi Poole. To Lexi a new school year means back to baking with her BFFs in the Cupcake Club. But club president, Kylie, is mixing things up by inviting new members. And Lexi is in for a not-so-sweet surprise when she is cast in the school's production of Romeo and Juliet. If only she was as confident on stage as she is in the kitchen. The icing on the cake: her secret crush is playing Romeo. Sounds like a recipe for trouble!
Can the girls' friendship stand the heat, or will the Cupcake Club go up in smoke?

Goodreads Summary

The summer before fifth grade begins; and Lexi misses her school, her friends, her art class, and the cupcake club.  Luckily, Lexi can spend some time with her Aunt Dee in New York – all kids need an Aunt Dee to open them up to different places and interests.  Trouble starts when Lexi and her friends head back to school; Lexi has changed a little, and her friends have changed too.  Kids will relate to Lexi’s doubts about opening their close foursome to new kids.  I was glad that they invited a new girl, but also glad that the new girl decided she wasn’t much of a baker.  Playing Juliette opposite her Romeo crush would give anyone a case of nerves.  I was horrified at what happened to the brownie cupcake with dark chocolate frosting.  Any chocolate lover would be!  If her Romeo can’t be “fudgilicious”, then it’s great that Lexi can make him a “patalicious” creation instead.  This story of friends, creativity, a crush, and change will be fun for ages 7 – 12.

I think this book sounds so cute. I love cupcakes as does my 7 year old niece. She is an avid reader and I know she would love this book. Thanks.
