The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck

Monday, April 9, 2012
One dress. Four women. An amazing destiny.
Charlotte Malone is getting married. Yet all is not settled in the heart of Birmingham's chic bridal boutique owner. Charlotte can dress any bride to perfection-except herself. When she discovers a vintage mint-condition wedding gown in a battered old trunk, Charlotte embarks on a passionate journey to discover the women who wore the gown before her.
Emily in 1912. Mary in 1939. And Hillary in 1968. Each woman teaches Charlotte something about love in her own unique way. Woven within the threads of the beautiful hundred-year-old gown is the truth about Charlotte's heritage, the power of faith, and the beauty of finding true love.

Goodreads Summary

Charlotte can dress any bride, but she is having difficulty finding a wedding dress that is perfect for her.  When Charlotte happens upon a vintage wedding dress, she makes it her mission to discover who wore the beautiful dress.  Her journey takes her through some hardships and lots of love, she learns from the others' memories and grows as a character as well.

The reader will follow three wedding stories that lead up to Charlotte's.  It is fun to get to know each individual character and come to acknowledge them as quite different from each other in little ways that matter.  Emily, Mary, and Hillary each have an effect upon Charlotte that Charlotte cannot easily ignore.  Their characters all have one thing in common, the dress, but the reader will love to get to know the individual.  The book centers around love, ultimately; love for the grooms, love for friends, love for the excitement and happiness of falling in love, etc...  The author carries out the plot wonderfully and will not confuse the reader as the reader travels back in time, so to speak, to meet each girl.  This book is recommended to adult readers.
