Step into Shadow Falls, a camp for teens with supernatural powers. Here friendship thrives, love takes you by surprise, and our hearts possess the greatest magic of all.

Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she’s meant to be with—and the truth about what her emerging powers mean. But she’s about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever…and not always for the better.

Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together. Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it’s not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, someone lives and someone dies. As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different—and more astonishing—than she ever imagined.

Goodreads Summary

The third novel in this wonderful series is finally here!  Kylie is not as torn between Lucas and Derek as she was before, but she still does not know what type of paranormal she is.  The reader will have some questions answered and have to add more questions to his/her pile.  There is a little something for every reader in this book, including romance, mystery, intrigue, drama, action, etc...

The reader will jump right into the action.  Kylie "acquires" a new ghost and must solve her problem in order for her to move on.  Kylie has to deal with the ghost while her powers and abilities are changing at a rapid pace.  She still has her friends that she counts on heavily, but her potential boyfriends are making her decisions harder.  Lucas makes it clear that he wants Kylie to be a were...how will this end up affecting a relationship?  Derek broke it off with Kylie, hooked up with another girl, and decided he wants Kylie back...but can Kylie forgive him for the discrepancies?  This book definitely has romance, but romance is not the only focus.  There are more than a few heart-pounding, exhilarating scenes where Kylie must escape or someone ends up dead.

Kylie's character is the main draw to this novel.  She is easy to connect to and feels very real.  She could pass for a friend or fellow peer.  Her thoughts and decisions will serve to connect the reader to the plot and the intertwining relationships throughout the novel.  The other characters, for the most part, are just as awesome as they were in the first two books.  The reader may still be rooting for Holiday and Burnett or maybe Perry and Miranda.  C.C. Hunter creates the characters in such a way that the reader actually cares what happens to them.

The plot was very fast-paced, there both romantic and drama-type action, and the reader will finally discover what Kylie is!  This book is highly recommended to young adult/teen readers.

Wow, I feel silly. I knew this was in a series, but I really thought it was book two. Where did book two go? Hmm. I'm failing at keeping track of publishing apparently!

Anyway, this one's definitely on my radar...assuming I like the first two, of course.

A camp for teens with supernatural powers? Why have I not heard of this series before? I've only been reading YA for about a year now, so I'm just now learning about some series that sound great. I'm glad I found your blog.

  1. Thanks for reminding me why I wanted to read this series.
