Splintered/Unhinged flip ARC by Anita Howard: 250+ Book Giveaway!
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.
Goodreads Summary
Unhinged
Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she's always dreamed of.
That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.
As prom and graduation creep closer, Alyssa juggles Morpheus’s unsettling presence in her real world with trying to tell Jeb the truth about a past he’s forgotten. Glimpses of Wonderland start to bleed through her art and into her world in very disturbing ways, and Morpheus warns that Queen Red won’t be far behind.
If Alyssa stays in the human realm, she could endanger Jeb, her parents, and everyone she loves. But if she steps through the rabbit hole again, she'll face a deadly battle that could cost more than just her head.

Author Bio/Links:
A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. Her pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.
Her debut YA fantasy, SPLINTERED, a dark Alice in Wonderland spinoff, is now available from Amulet Books. The sequel, UNHINGED, is due to launch January 2014.

Hi! Is this open for international readers? I can't wait to read the books! :)
-
I Like the 'flipped' cover with both books on different sides. I think it would be fun to read something differently like that. :)
-
I like the idea of it being based on a fairy tale. It looks like it will be a very interesting read.
-
I love the idea of an Alice and Wonderland retelling and I've heard good things. I haven't read either book so the two in one has appeal.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
-
First of all, I like anything Alice and Wonderland, but it has always been a little juvenile. This is more like an Alice and Wonderland for adults. Such a creative idea.
-
This is such a nice giveaway! I love the covers so much... look like something my friend would draw!
-
I love fairy tale re-tellings and I've heard that this one has a steamy romance too! :)
-
I love the fact that it's a retelling of Alice in Wonderland! It's one of my all time favorite fairy tales.
-
I love the Alice in Wonderland aspect of the book. I read Splintered and devoured quickly. The story was amazing. I just love the covers as well.
-
Im not gonna lie, its totally the cover art that grabbed my attention! Aside from that the story sounds really good too. I like different takes on classics!
-
I love the extended life of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland through a new authors eyes! The classic tale by Lewis Carroll gives a thorough grounding for the setting of the tale and an inkling of the nature of the characters encountered. It reads very well and looks to be a brilliant coming of age tale
-
I really love the covers and I like the similarity with Alice in Wonderland, I can't wait to read it and see how she adapted the story :)
-
I agree - it's the Alice in Wonderland connection that fascinates.
-
I've heard so many great things about it, and it's an Alice and Wonderland retelling!
It's also the coolest thing that it's double-sided, so once you finish the first book, just flip it over! :D
-
The gorgeous covers don't hurt, but mostly it's the Alice in Wonderland theme. And the flip edition is the one I want. Not even sure if you can buy that one though...so I hope I win!
-
I like the cover(s). I also love that it has both books in 1 volume.
-
I like books based on fairy tales, so these sound like a lot of fun to read!

I absolutely adored Splintered! It is one of my favorite retelling's! I can't wait to read Unhinged. And what better way to do that than with a flip book?! I haven't seen a book like this since I was a little girl with a children's book. I love them, and the two covers together is just double the awesome!

- I'm a young college student who has probably read over 5000 books over the course of my short life; some of the books were classics, some of the books were terrific, and some of the books were...misses. Even with the latter part I will always believe in the power of books to completely remove the reader from his/her present reality. Long Live Books! I would love to read and review books from just about any genre. To contact me: edysicecreamlover18 AT gmail DOT com Thank you for your interest! At this time, I can only accept paperback or hardcover.
