Hi Lisa, Thanks so much for commenting! I think the idea of having teens interact with actual babies is pretty darn brilliant! I'd love to hear what you think about ME, HIM, THEM AND IT once your read it!
-
Knowledge. It can only help teens. Anything more than that comes down to the person.
-
Thanks for stopping by bn! My hope is that ME HIM THEM AND IT can help keep some teens informed in both practical and emotional ways!
-
Hi Vivien! Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I agree that education is key for all teens. As you'll see, Evelyn, our main character, has some serious misconceptions!
-
I have nothing against teen pregnancy. Pregnancy is not the thing teens should be thinking about, but if it is, they need education and support. Teens shouldn't be treated like trash because they get pregnant. Most teens aren't ready to have a kid, but instead of punishing them, parents and society should help them.
-
I think teens should wait. I mean, a baby is hard at any age, but especially when you're young.
-
I honestly have mixed feelings about teen pregnancy. I feel sad when I think about infants that suffer from an ill-prepared teenage mom; however, there are teenage moms who are very responsible and I really respect those who can handle such responsibility at a young age.
-
I think the fact that abstinence is the only form of education in school children get once they reach puberty is the reason there are so many teen pregnancies. They should be offered preventative measures education as well. Let's face it. Kids are, most likely, not going to wait to have sex until they are married. Isn't it better they know how to be safe than not?

Brynna-
Thanks for your comment! And holy cow do I agree. I'm not sure how I would have handled such a responsibility at Evelyn's age!
-
Hi Christina!
Thanks for stopping by! It is SO impressive when teen parents do a good job, and so many of them are able to! I agree that when we talk about teen pregnancy, we have to be careful not to "mom-shame."
-
HI Danielle--
Thanks for posting such a great conversation starter! I think you're totally right. Not only is it risky to have "abstinence-only" education, but it also seems so unfair to keep kids ignorant about ANYTHING, including birth control. Thanks for speaking up for teens!
-
Touchy subject. I believe every child deserves a chance at life, no matter how long they have lived.
-
For me, I had too much at risk to even try unprotected sex in my teen years. Not that my parents wouldn't have supported me, I just did not want to be faced with that decision of keep it or don't.
And it is funny that once I went to college, they'd hand out condoms left and right. You could go to the clinic and get them for free. But by college, you are considered a young adult and more responsible. I know a lot of parents would be in an uproar about having schools hand out condoms, but people need to wake up and face the facts. Kids are having sex younger and younger.
-
Haha... I don't know. It shouldn't happen! Condoms are easy to have access to and then there's the morning after pill if you're really desperate. So many options!
-
Meryvamp,
Thank you for commenting. It's too bad more teens don't think like you. I think that even for some who understand the consequences intellectually, they don't get it emotionally or feel invincible, you know? Maybe handing out condoms is only a partial-solution...
-
Megan,
Thanks for stopping by! I think it's crazy that with all the options available, our country's rate of teen pregnancy remains very high! Why do you think that is?
-
I am opposed to teen pregnancy, unless the parents are willing and able to act as responsible adults to raise their child.
-
It happens. I don't know why everyone gets so bent out of shape about it or looks down on them.
-
I feel teen pregnancy is a rising concern. The numbers just keep going up but honestly how can you expect it to not? Kids do not usually get the sex talk from parents so they find out their own ways. They are just not prepared which adds to more statistics!

I think that teen pregnancy is sad, yet preventable. All to often, IMO, teen pregnancy is a result of other things. While obviously it's because the kids had sex, there are usually underlying reasons that they had sex.
-
Teens have been having babies since the beginning of times.Personally, I don't care if a teen gets pregnant or not. That's them not me. But I do think that not all teens are irresponsible or incapable of raising a baby.
-
I think the best thing is to teach them the things they need to know. Also, to offer them options, and not to diss on them or belittle them if they make one that goes against YOUR believes. Every woman should be able to decide about what is going on in her body.
-----------------
Also, I think less of this would happen if parents played a bigger role in their children's lives. My parents didn't even allow me to date till I was 16, and I feel more parents should be that way. These 13 or 14 year-olds do not even need to be having sex at all.
--------------------
In conclusion, everyone involved needs to think about all that is involved and how it will affect them before making a decision....preferably before getting into the situation in the first place.
-
I think more steps need to be taken to prevent it. We need better sex ed.
-
It is a sad situation if the teen doesn't have any support.
I think if people taught their kids better morals it wouldn't happen near as often. I believe in monagomy and marriage. Too many people are all about the moment and doin' what feels good. Many parents don't pay attention to what is going on with their children. Sometimes they let them do whatever they want and think it can't or won't happen to their teen.
If kids don't do it, pregnancy can't happen! Preventing them from doing it should be our focus not killing innocent babies because the teen decides after the fact that they don't want to be responsible. If they do the crime, they should be prepared to do the time.
-
I think that teen pregnancy is completely unnecessary and very avoidable. However, if a teen makes a mistake then they should live with it and take responsibility.
-
It is a sad thing. Schools need to go back to teaching abstinence.
I think all girls should be a full-time nanny of toddlers for a month or so. They would find out it is hard work.
In many cases, if the girl truly loves the baby, she should allow him/her to be adopted by a solidly married couple.

I entered your 150+ Book Giveaway.
It would be great to win a copy of
Me, Him, Them and It
By Caela Carter.
In response to your question of
What are your thoughts
on teen pregnancy?
My Thoughts on this issue are parents should talk to their children about sex because i know this is
going to continue to happen.
Guys should also use condoms
because it's not
just pregnancy to worry about.

I was a pregnant teen. I do wish I had waited longer and I wish the teens nowadays would realize it's not all that "cool" to have a baby at that young of an age. I think there should be more information and even hands on experience with babies. Like taking care of them for a day and then see if they can handle that and still want a baby. I like that teens can now go by themselves to a there doctor or those free clinics and get birth control without their parents knowing. Some parents get to freaked out when they find out that their teen is on birth control. I would rather my teen be protected then not to be. You can only do so much and tell your teen so much about not doing this or that. Because eventually they will do what they want in the end.
