KATE WINTERS HAS WON IMMORTALITY.
BUT IF SHE WANTS A LIFE WITH HENRY IN THE UNDERWORLD, SHE'LL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT.
Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.
As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.
Henry's first wife, Persephone.

Goodreads Summary

One might think Kate and Henry would grow closer after she achieved her goal of becoming his queen.  Instead, she comes home to an icy Henry.  Henry is withdrawing from her, but she isn't quite sure why.  Kate is still getting used to her role as queen and adjusting to the life of Henry's queen.  Everything seems to be happening at a rapid pace.  Kate is discovering abilities, James is off on some errand, Kate's mother is trying to gain control/help the council, etc...  Does Kate have anyone she can turn to?  Will Henry step up?

Kate's character has matured in this novel.  The reader will notice a distinct lack of "whiny" and a gain in "regality".  She appears wiser, but still retains her youth.  Henry takes on an even more formidable form as Kate's immortal husband.  With his aloof nature, the reader will likely never be able to guess at his actions or the reasons behind them.  The other characters are mostly reappearances from the first book, the reader will enjoy some of them and learn to hate others.

Readers should be excited for the next in this series!  The author manages to add in unexpected twists and surprises that will probably never occur to the reader.  This book is a great read for young adult/teen readers.
