The Arranger by L.J. Sellers Giveaway!
The year is 2023 and ex-detective Lara Evans is working as a freelance paramedic in a bleak new world. She responds to an emergency call and is nearly killed when a shooter flees the home. Inside she finds the federal employment commissioner wounded, but she’s able to save his life. The next day Lara leaves for the Gauntlet—a national competition of intense physical and mental challenges with high stakes for her home state. She spots the assailant lurking at the arena and soon after, she lands in deep trouble. Who is the mysterious killer and what is motivating him? Can Lara stop him, stay alive, and win the Gauntlet?
Goodreads Summary
Lara is the main draw to this novel. She is a paramedic in a futuristic world filled with trouble. She is brave, strong, and compassionate-all of the qualities a main character should have...especially a paramedic. Her character was likable and connected well with the reader. She carries around a large amount of guilt due to an incident that occurred a while back in the past, the reader learns more about what actually happened later on.
The author actually writes a fair amount of this book from two different periods in time, she makes it very easy to follow though-the reader needn't be worried about confusion. The reader learns how the past always affect the future. The antagonist is believably evil, morally corrupt. The secondary characters are not really focused on, but they are not essential to this novel. The events are fast-paced and flow together quite well. The ending is perfect for the novel. This book is recommended to young adults/adults.

Thanks for stopping in. Writing about the future was challenging, but also liberating and fun. I'm back to writing my Detective Jackson series and I have to remember to be realistic. :)

About Me
- Krystal Larson

- I'm a young college student who has probably read over 5000 books over the course of my short life; some of the books were classics, some of the books were terrific, and some of the books were...misses. Even with the latter part I will always believe in the power of books to completely remove the reader from his/her present reality. Long Live Books! I would love to read and review books from just about any genre. To contact me: edysicecreamlover18 AT gmail DOT com Thank you for your interest! At this time, I can only accept paperback or hardcover. The finished review copies I receive are either kept in my personal collection or donated to several libaries, schools, or charities-I have no control over the finished review copies after donation. *I claim no ownership for any images used on this site.
