Darkness Splintered by Keri Arthur: GIVEAWAY!
When Risa loses the second key to hell, she angers several powerful people, and she’s starting to feel the pressure from all sides. She gets a visit from her father, who gives her an ultimatum: Get back the key or he will kill her friends.
Risa also finds herself under the scrutiny of the vampire council, some of whom consider her a monster who should be destroyed. But they offer her a bloody bargain: Take on the lethal head of the council, Madeline Hunter, and others will support her.
As the search for the keys to hell heats up, Risa realizes that she has no choice. For the sake of the people she loves, she must find the keys — and get rid of Hunter — before the second gate is opened and brings the world closer to all hell breaking loose...
Goodreads Summary
This book is packed with action. We meet Risa again in this latest installment; she has lost the key to Hell and has no choice but to get the key back. Risa carries Azriel's child and must always think of someone other than herself. Unless Rise finds the key, her father will kill her friends; she has a very strict timeline of forty hours. I can't imagine tracking down a small key in that time period!
I loved Risa's character. She doesn't take anything from anyone and is always willing to stick up for her friends. I loved how she put them first. I felt a little bad for Azriel-when Risa banished him from her side despite carrying his child. The reader will enjoy getting to know a few new characters and reminiscing with past characters. The author kept an underlying tension throughout the novel that makes the reader feel as if he/she is on as much of a timeline as Risa. Overall, this book is perfect for fans of the series and adult readers.

Oooh, this book sounds pretty great. I love fierce female characters! I assume this one is part of a series. I'll have to check it out. This cover reminds a bit of Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh (I just read this one and I really liked it).

- I'm a young college student who has probably read over 5000 books over the course of my short life; some of the books were classics, some of the books were terrific, and some of the books were...misses. Even with the latter part I will always believe in the power of books to completely remove the reader from his/her present reality. Long Live Books! I would love to read and review books from just about any genre. To contact me: edysicecreamlover18 AT gmail DOT com Thank you for your interest! At this time, I can only accept paperback or hardcover. The finished review copies I receive are either kept in my personal collection or donated to several libaries, schools, or charities-I have no control over the finished review copies after donation. *I claim no ownership for any images used on this site. Ooh, a badass who cares about her friends and doesn't let pregnancy hold her back when lives are at stake. I haven't read the series before, but maybe I should pick it up, if there's that to look forward to!
