The little recipient loved this book. The cutesy French words strewn around added to the "fancy" feel and the pretty little girls and boys in the pictures were quaintly drawn. I liked how the child's picture is used at the end to signify him/her as a graduate from fancy tea parties. The story is both a story and more of a small course in nice tea parties. I liked the "doll cake" idea and the cute suggestion about dolls not being hungry so it's ok if the child eats it. The entire Fancy Nancy series is adorable and will be well-loved by little girls (and boys too!). There are places where the child and parent can come up with recipes and write down ingredients and directions to give the book an even more personalized feel!

Beverages:

Iced Raspberry Tea: 6 tea bags in a tea kettle placed in the refrigerator
Slushie: Shaved ice and either blueberry, raspberry, or cherry flavoring

Nibblers:

Mini cheese and pretzel plate: various cheeses artfully arranged with pretzels
Deviled Eggs
Finger Sandwiches: Offering ham, turkey, and chicken with mayonnaise or miracle whip

Centerpieces:

A few colorful balloons grouped together over sparkly flowers (glue and glitter the petals)
Marbles in a bowl with floating candles over water
