Rather than being welcomed home by his father, Adam finds his father is unwilling to forgive him for leaving his mother and father to work the farm alone to fight in the war. Now, the farm is being foreclosed on by Adam’s high school rival. Nathan, Adam’s rival, is bossy, demanding and dating Elizabeth Baxter, a woman Adam cannot stay away from. After one dance, it is clear that Adam and Elizabeth were a couple that was meant to be.
This book is great and practically impossible to put down. Some characters seem like real people who I can relate to and cheer for. Other characters, Nate, I hated with unanticipated ferocity. Although a first time author, Nelson was able to create these types of feelings in me as a reader. The Anniversary Waltz will pull at your heart and leave you feeling happy. Not sappy, or overly romantic, but nostalgic and poignant. This is a great read.
