This political thriller moves quickly. Descriptions of characters like Abu Paria are the stuff of nightmares for wimps like me. Tortures that Meir is subject to, the cloak-and-dagger actions of the Iranian government agent who tips Meir off about the bomb, the mocking derision of Meir’s “defense” attorney, the stories of hatred and revenge on both sides are thrilling in this tense story. It is fast-paced, yet my attention wandered at times…maybe because I did not connect with the characters? However, I had to know what happened next. The plotting and execution of Andreas’ plans were exciting. The end was a little unbelievable to me; it seems impossible that someone like Paria would believe that Andreas valued his friendship with Meir so much that he would make that last deal.
