Crazy by Amy Reed
Connor knows that Izzy will never fall in love with him the way he’s fallen for her. But somehow he’s been let into her crazy, exhilarating world and become her closest confidante. But the closer they get, the more Connor realizes that Izzy’s highs are too high and her lows are too low. And the frenetic energy that makes her shine is starting to push her into a much darker place. As Izzy’s behavior gets increasingly erratic and self-destructive, Connor gets increasingly desperate to stop her from plummeting. He knows he can’t save her from her pain… but what if no one else can?
Goodreads Summary
Izzy isn't a normal girl, but she's never thought of herself as crazy. When she meets Connor at summer camp, the two hit it off and decide to correspond via email. The more Connor gets to know Izzy, the more he realizes that sometimes she is far too high and sometimes she is far too low. The two talk through their feelings, even the most embarrassing, as well as everyday activities and arguments with friends and parents. The reader will really get to know these two characters; their hopes, dreams, and pain are clearly written down, but these characters are not always easy to connect to...sometimes the reader may feel like he/she is on the outside looking in.
Connor's personality is far more dependable. He tends to be the goofy but serious, smart but sometimes stupid, normal teenage boy. Izzy, on the other hand, displays some feelings, thoughts, and actions that may be seen as...crazy. The author truly captures and uses Izzy's frenetic energy. It is very easy to find oneself completely absorbed in this book without even noticing the outside world. The reader may feel as if he/she is reading about a train wreck ahead of time and unable to help the characters. However, Amy Reed does a terrific job of portraying Izzy exactly as she intended.
Overall, this book will evoke emotions in the reader and leave him/her thinking about this book long after setting it down. This novel is recommended to young adult/adult readers.

I had a galley of this on my computer, but I go so occupied with other books that it expired before I knew it. Now I wish I'd given it more attention! Fantastic review!

This sounds like a very interesting read! I can't think of any books that I've read similar to this. Thanks for sharing! :)

Amy sounds like a complex character and that's interesting. I'm curious about her highs and lows and the reasons behind them.
-
Sounds like a good book. And I hadn't heard about it. Thanks.
-
It has to be tremendously complicated to write a character who may seem 'crazy'. I hadn't heard of this one before but it sounds very different and like a great read. :)
-
Thanks for reviewing. I hadn't heard of this book yet but I want to read it now. Sounds really emotional.
-
Great review. I'm putting this one on my Goodreads TBR pile. :)

This sounds like such an interesting book! I really want to read this now :P Thanks for the review

This book sounds really interesting. I normally don't read contemporary YA, but the mental illness aspect of this one might win me over.
-
It actually sounds like she has a type of disorder. Thanks for the interesting review.

Oh, the book does sound very interesting! Great review. :) Looking forward to reading Crazy. Somehow I have a feeling that Connor is quite adorable.

haven't read many reviews of this book but I don't think I will like it much if they just correspond via email. Also the girl seems like she might be bipolar? I hope there is a reason for her "crazy" acts, but yea, sounds like a good book though
nice review!

I hadn't heard of this one before; it's always to discover new books. It sounds interesting, thank you for the review! :)

Izzy sounds like she's bipolar, that or really high. But the book sounds good. :D
-
Sounds like a book that I would enjoy. I think I will pick this up and add it to my TBR pile. Thanks! :-)

I have friends and family that are bi-polar. It is exhausting to be around them because of the swings. I'll have to pick this one up.
-
This book seems to cover some really serious issues with emotions and possibly even a little bit of depression. I love how Conner is so desperate to help Izzy. It sounds interesting!
-
Sounds like this book would be touching and sad. I haven't heard of it before, so thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review! I'd never heard of this one before! It sounds like a good read for John Green fans, a little "Looking for Alaska" sounding, and I'm all for it!

Wonderful review! I've heard amazing things about Amy Reed and I think I really should check out some of her books. I have Clean by her on my kindle, maybe I'll pick it up sometime soon! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

I've seen this book show up in so many blogs lately. I might actually end up reading it since you gave it 4 stars. Thanks for the review =)

Izzy sounds like an interesting and fun character. I'm kind of thinking maybe she is bi-polar by the description but now completely sure. My grandmother is bi-polar so I always find books about the subject interesting. Connor sounds so sweet and I hope they help each other and get together.

I loved the premise for this and I even felt like I could really like the characters, but I wasn't able to finish it, because it being told through letters was really distracting for me :0(
I might pick it up at a later date, though, because I really like a story that can evoke emotions.

I've been reading more and more contemporary lately and this sounds like something I should be adding to that pile!! It's super important that a character be well defined to me and the fact that Amy got Izzy so perfect is really attractive to me :) Awesome review!

Sounds as if Izzy has a bi-polar disorder, which is quite common for a lot of people. Based on your review, it sounds like an emotional read. I'm going to have to check this one out. Thanks!

I have seen Crazy almost every time I have looked at a blog lately. And I have continually heard good things. The premise of the book is very interesting. It seems to deal with mental/emotional disorders such as bipolar disorder. That is such a prevalent diagnosis now. It is also a huge undertaking for an author, and I can't wait to see for myself how the author has handled it. Thanks so much for your review of Crazy
