There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
Goodreads Summary
This book is the continuation of an exciting new series by author Jennifer L. Armentrout. Alex is still the main character and still impulsive. In training to become an Apollyon, Seth dogs Alex's every step. Originally, this seems to annoy her, but maybe Seth isn't so bad after all. She still longs for what she cannot have, as society dictates, Aiden.
Alex remains that brave, impulsive, and intelligent character that readers can look forward to. She truly stands up for what she believes in; she is an easy character to love. Aiden comes off as a little cold, but the reader can tell he truly likes her...as does Seth *love triangle*. Alex must decide between the two, but the decision won't be easy and is complicated by Aiden's pure status.
In this novel, Alex finds herself in and out of trouble. By standing up for the Half-Bloods she is reprimanded and threatened, by refusing to ignore her heart she has the potential to be sentenced to servitude, Alex must be careful in this Pure-governed world.
New characters are incorporated into the novel, providing even more excitement, action, and mystery. The events of this book were extremely fast-paced and the characters drive the plot at a rapid pace. The book is very well-written, the author captures the readers' attention and continues to hold it throughout the novel. There is something for every reader, from mystery to romance to action to intrigue to suspense. This book is highly recommended to young adult/teen readers.

About Me

- I'm a young college student who has probably read over 5000 books over the course of my short life; some of the books were classics, some of the books were terrific, and some of the books were...misses. Even with the latter part I will always believe in the power of books to completely remove the reader from his/her present reality. Long Live Books! I would love to read and review books from just about any genre. To contact me: edysicecreamlover18 AT gmail DOT com Thank you for your interest! At this time, I can only accept paperback or hardcover. The finished review copies I receive are either kept in my personal collection or donated to several libaries, schools, or charities-I have no control over the finished review copies after donation. *I claim no ownership for any images used on this site.
