Take a Bow by Elizabeth Eulberg

Monday, March 26, 2012
From the fantastic author of The Lonely Hearts Club and Prom & Prejudice comes a story of all the drama and comedy of four friends who grow into themselves at a performing arts high school.

Emme, Sophie, Ethan, and Carter are seniors at a performing arts school, getting ready for their Senior Showcase recital, where the pressure is on to appeal to colleges, dance academies, and professionals in show business. For Sophie, a singer, it's been great to be friends with Emme, who composes songs for her, and to date Carter, soap opera heartthrob who gets plenty of press coverage. Emme and Ethan have been in a band together through all four years of school, but wonder if they could be more than just friends and bandmates. Carter has been acting since he was a baby, and isn't sure how to admit that he'd rather paint than perform. The Senior Showcase is going to make or break each of the four, in a funny, touching, spectacular finale that only Elizabeth Eulberg could perform.

Goodreads Summary

Take a Bow follows the journey of four students that attend a performing arts school in New York. Sophie, Emme, Carter, and Ethan all have their reasons for attending the school. Sophie desires stardom and all the attention that comes with it. She is not afraid of ruining friendships or using others, more often than not Emme and Carter, to get there. Emme just loves to create music and does not need the spotlight. She is devoted to Sophie and her band friends. Carter was a child star that is now unsure of whom he really is and loves to paint. He is dating Sophie, who he used to love, but now does not so certain. Ethan cannot help himself when it comes to music and Emme. He loves Emme, but is afraid of ruining their friendship. Music is Ethan’s outlet. He channels all his feelings and thoughts into the music he creates. Eulberg fashioned incredible characters. They had such strong personalities and seem realistic. Reading their journeys through their senior year of high school is fun and fast-paced.

This book could be enjoyed by male or female readers. Take a Bow would be loved by a high school aged audience or young adult readers. Music fans will adore this novel. Five out of five stars!
