Sasha Savage is in love with Jack - a handsome, charming ... vegetarian. Which wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that Sasha's family are very much 'carnivorous'. Behind the family facade all is not as it seems. Sasha's father rules his clan with an iron fist and her mother's culinary skills are getting more adventurous by the day. When a too-curious private detective starts to dig for truths, the tight-knit family starts to unravel - as does their sinister taste in human beings .
Goodreads Summary
This book is a completely entertaining "Addams Family" style dark comedy that will have you hungry for more and more as you read. Imagine a family that seems to always be loosely attached to missing persons cases but the proof is never quite there to get evidence or an arrest going. The family seems to be quite pleasant in general and gets along with everyone in the neighborhood, but you can tell that there is something slightly off.
I wouldn't be giving anything away for the book if I told you that "The Savages" are a family that eat meat, human meat. The daughter in the family wants to become a vegetarian as she hits her rebellious teenage years and begins dating. Her boyfriend slowly but surely begins to catch on to the weird happenings in the family as they drop subtle hints and begin to show their true colors. It makes for a hilarious ride at the dinner table that you will not want to put down. My favorite part of this book is a scene where Sasha's boyfriend comes over and has a few tricks played on him by the family. This is definitely a book you should check out.
