Characters you can care about and a great plot.

  1. Characters and a well developed plot are very important. So is the cover, got to love pretty covers.

The characters are what makes or breaks a book for me. Even if you have a beautiful setting and great plot, putting stale or poorly developed characters into them just won't be nearly as good.

  1. I like the strong heroines and the bad boy heros. Lots of tension and chemistry and a fast paced plot

Depth and development of the characters, how the characters interact with each other and their environment, 3 dimensional setting/world building, pacing that fits the story, interesting plot that has its own unique feel to it.

Great world building, I can suffer through a story line that does not intrigue me if the world building an character building is done properly

  1. Christine said...:

For me, it's all about the details being done right--multifaceted characters, intricate world-building, and little nuances that make a plot intriguing. You can always tell when an author has put in extra effort with these details, and it makes a HUGE difference.
