Emily and Megan travel back in time when Emily makes a wish on an amulet she bought from a gypsy. From there, Emily and Megan make friends with local children, evade a thief, and steal from a wizard. The girls' journey home is memorable and fun. Cocchio's simple plot is skillfully written and brings Emily, Megan, Anne, and Richard to life. Younger readers, age’s eight to twelve would particularly enjoy this story.
Cocchio's novel is classroom friendly and could be read as part of a history assignment on the Middle Ages. Cocchio wrote this novel to be historically accurate.
