The Demonists by Thomas E. Sniegoski

Saturday, May 14, 2016
“First in a brand-new dark fantasy series, The Demonists is captivating from the first page. It’s fast-paced excitement with compassionate characters you’ll want to triumph. A quintessential story of good versus evil. It doesn’t get much better than that! Waiting for the next installment will be torture.”
RT Book Review, top pick

There is more to our world than meets the eye—darker things, crueler things, Exorcist John Fogg and his wife, psychic medium Theodora Knight, know what lurks in the shadows, but even there’re not prepared for the worst that hell has to offer.

It was supposed to be a simple exorcism, a publicity stunt to firmly establish John and Theodora’s thriving paranormal investigation empire in the public eye. But something went wrong, leading to an on-air massacre that unleashed a malicious host of demons and left Theodora catatonic, possessed by countless spirits.

John sets out on a desperate quest to find a cure for his wife, but his obsession brings him face-to-face with an even more terrifying problem: Theodora’s possession is only one piece of a deadly plot that is threatening the entire world. Because an ancient evil is about to make Earth its battlefield—and without John and Theodora’s intervention, there is no chance for salvation...

Goodreads  Summary

The apocalypse of the whole world is upon us and the fate of one woman is what is holding things in the balance. Theodora is possessed and her husband John is trying to get her back so that the plot against the destruction of the world can be at least put on hold, if not thwarted completely.

This book contains an awesome mix of paranormal and action that is non stop thrilling from the start to the end of the story. There is a struggle between good and evil for the souls of the innocents in the world, so a lot is on the line. I loved how the author created and kept up the seriously dark tone. He did it well in his other novels, and this is no exception. I also really liked how the author made the seemingly unrelated plot lines connect so perfectly as the book went on. I always love reaching those "aha" moments where another piece of the puzzle falls into place and something else makes sense that has been grabbing at a part of your brain. The husband and wife team going in this book was a joy to follow as well. The chemistry between them was carried out so well. Just go and get a copy for yourself, you won't regret it.
