Accidentally On Purpose by Jill Shalvis: Review and Giveaway!
There’s no such thing as a little in love…
Elle Wheaten’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .
There’s no such thing as a little in lust…
Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. But now that she’s earned happiness and success, Archer just wants Elle 24/7. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco Earthquake, and Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .
There is such a thing as…
As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along…
Goodreads Summary
Elle and Archer have bad history and bad blood between them. Elle feels like she owes Archer after he lost his law enforcement career and Archer feels like Elle deserves a better man. Their history and passion for each other work together to form an explosive combination. Archer remains in Elle's life while Elle tries dating other men which evokes a bad response in Archer (anyone up for a date that gets interrupted constantly?). As Elle becomes more and more stubborn and determined Archer responds in kind. Their relationship evolves from savior/saved to lovers over the course of the book.
Elle's character made me laugh. She made a lot of choices that were maybe unfortunate or motivated by the wrong reasons, but I could see myself making those same choices to spite someone, too. Archer was pure sin. His physical features will give the reader quite the mental image and his jealousy was just plain cute (though annoying to Elle). I liked how much he clearly cared about her and went out of his way to be around her. Their relationship, though difficult at times, is one that I would love to have.

I don't believe jealousy is right. I believe it can lead to hard feelings and stress

Jealousy is a totally human reaction in a relationship and if it's in small doses or endearing and cute, it's fine, but if it becomes vindictive it turns ugly and overbearing. I LOVE Jill Shalvis and I know her version of a jealous guy will be the endearing kind who acts out because he's hurt and not to spite his girl ;)
LOVE your review, and I especially like how you said their relationship changes as they change their own roles within it, as she grows stronger and he perhaps accepts he's worthy of her. Love how you said he's really good looking :)
thank you so very much!!!

I think that a little bit fo jealousy is healthy. It makes the person feel valued by their significant other.

Jealousy doesn't belong in a long-lasting relationship and only should happen if two people can't be honest and communicate with each other.

I'm really looking forward to reading this one since I just finished book 1 of this series. In Sweet Little Lies, we saw just a glimpse of Archer and Elle's past relationship that's intriguing to me. Plus Jill Shavlis is one of my go-to authors for a fun, hot read!

I think jealousy can ruin a relationship. Spouses should help support each other to improve rather than compete against each other.

I think jealousy definitely has a place during the attraction phase and can be a great motivator. However, I don't think jealousy makes sense after a relationship is already in place and a couple has chosen each other.

I don't like jealousy in a relationship. It would be great to be able to be in a relationship with someone that you trust enough that you don't need to be jealous when they're around other people.

I think a bit of jealousy is a normal human reaction but it's the scary, obsessive kind that's not healthy in a relationship. I'm really looking forward to reading this one since I'm a huge Jill Shalvis fan ever since her Lucky Harbor books came out. Thanks for the chance to win!
