I was lucky enough to go on adventures most of my life. My parents constantly had us either in the back of a car, train, or airplane. They really wanted my sister and I to see the world-but for now...they'd settle for the states and Canada.
Along the way to our destination, we would always stop at out-of-the-way antique shops and small village towns. There would always be something new to discover from ice cream flavors to odd sculptures to unique artwork. I loved the flavors, smells, and sights that each state held. It was always fascinating to see how different and yet similar (an oxymoron, I know) that each state was. I admit that I used to complain about these family trips (until it became "fun" in my childlike mind), but as I look back I have to say that a good half of my childhood memories are based around these trips. After writing this post, I feel like going up to my parents to thank them!
