100+ Book Giveaway Jennifer Echols

Jennifer Echols

   Such a Rush Giveaway

When I was fourteen, I made a decision. If I was doomed to live in a trailer park next to an airport, I could complain about the smell of the jet fuel like my mom, I could drink myself to death over the noise like everybody else, or I could learn to fly.

Heaven Beach, South Carolina, is anything but, if you live at the low-rent end of town. All her life, Leah Jones has been the grown-up in her family, while her mother moves from boyfriend to boyfriend, letting any available money slip out of her hands. At school, they may diss Leah as trash, but she’s the one who negotiates with the landlord when the rent’s not paid. At fourteen, she’s the one who gets a job at the nearby airstrip.

But there’s one way Leah can escape reality. Saving every penny she can, she begs quiet Mr. Hall, who runs an aerial banner-advertising business at the airstrip and also offers flight lessons, to take her up just once. Leaving the trailer park far beneath her and swooping out over the sea is a rush greater than anything she’s ever experienced, and when Mr. Hall offers to give her cut-rate flight lessons, she feels ready to touch the sky.

By the time she’s a high school senior, Leah has become a good enough pilot that Mr. Hall offers her a job flying a banner plane. It seems like a dream come true . . . but turns out to be just as fleeting as any dream. Mr. Hall dies suddenly, leaving everything he owned in the hands of his teenage sons: golden boy Alec and adrenaline junkie Grayson. And they’re determined to keep the banner planes flying.

Though Leah has crushed on Grayson for years, she’s leery of getting involved in what now seems like a doomed business—until Grayson betrays her by digging up her most damning secret. Holding it over her head, he forces her to fly for secret reasons of his own, reasons involving Alec. Now Leah finds herself drawn into a battle between brothers—and the consequences could be deadly.

  10. I have, yes. I started it, and I ended it. It was when I was younger, and for a good reason.

  11. Haha no, I've never really gotten into the middle of a fight. I try to stay away form that. It might be fun to read about, but not experience.

  12. No. I'm not into that type of drama. For the most part I ignore or avoid fights. I believe there's always a way to work out something without getting physical or throwing a tantrum till you're purple in the face.

  13. No. I've never gotten into a physical one or any large verbal ones. I have gotten into mini fights if you can even call them that. They were mainly big arguments.

  15. I've never been a fan of straight contemporary, but this sounds like something I can really sink my teeth into.

I have been in the middle of a fight before. There was a girl at school, who thought it would be fun to pick on me. One day, I don't know how it happened, she trapped me next to the fence with the entire schoolyard yelling, "Fight, fight!" I was a pissed off little 11 yo, let me tell you.

I stood there as she threatened to punch me, looked her in the eyes. I would not back down, and I would not throw a punch. I could see her wavering, but then the group of kids pushed forward, her arm went flying, and my face smacked into the fence. It was as if a collective gasp went through the crowd. I wasn't going to fight back, so what had been fun seconds prior was now filled with startling wrongness.

Then the teacher came, she got in trouble, and I got my friends back (she'd tried to steal them). And somehow, by the end of the year, she was my friend too. Kids are so weird, lol.

  20. I'm not the fighting type.. but I do have to separate my 7 yr old and 19 month old sometimes because they have little arguments.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I haven't gotten into any real bad ones, no.

    ReplyDelete
  22. NEVER have.

Not in a fist fight at least, but I've had friends who didn't like each other, one of them expected me to stop talking to the other, I didn't and she stopped talking to me for a while. The other friend just didn't care as long as we were good.

There was also a friend who started dating my best friend's ex- now husband- and a bad break up between friends of mine... funny how you say " as long as you remember I am not taking sides if you break up, go for it" and they always forget it.

  25. I try to stay as far away from drama as I can. Though, if I really think I can help, I'll step in with my two cents and then step right back out!

  26. I've never been in a fight myself, but I once tried to stop one, which ended with me being pushed roughly back, falling backwards near a chair and splitting my head on it. Plus I got a large bruise on my wrist from trying to soften the fall. Luckily, I didn't break it, and the cut wasn't serious, although it bled a lot.
Next time, I'm staying out of a fight or hitting first:)

  27. I generally don't like to get involved as I think that they can sort it out between themselves and more people involved complicates things.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nope, I'm not really a fighting type.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not a physical fight... I've gotten in the middle of an argument before and it was ugly.

  35. I got in between a fight when I was 16 between my jealous boyfriend and a good guy friend of mine that was driving me home from school after I missed the bus. My boyfriend saw me in the car and followed the car home. He got out of the car and started hitting my friend. I got in between and got knocked out. Not a good thing.

  58. I used to work with troubled youth in a residential treatment facility, and I was able to stop a physical fight between two girls. I didn't physically stop them - I just told them to go to separate areas until they calmed down. One flipped over a couch!
