So many! I love Sci-fi settings like The Host and Cinder, fantasy settings like Harry Potter and The Sword of Truth, Dystopian à la The Hunger Games and Divergent, Historical -- Outlander, Bloody Jack. The only backdrop I'm not particularly fond of is contemporary, haha.
I love YA Paranormal books. Thinking back on my favorites, I would have to go with "Poison Study" and "Cinder." In "Poison Study," there is an unexpected romance with real, deep character development. I love the character of Valek. He appears to be inhuman only to be one of the very human characters in the story. In "Cinder," I appreciate how closely the author followed the fairytale of 'Cinderella' without being confined by it. There was still a lot of freedom in Marissa Meyer's universe and I kept find myself wondering how is she going to fit that into this story? Thanks for the giveaway!
Some of my favorite book settings come from the following series: The Lord of the Rings by TRR Tolkein The Wheel of Time Robert Jordan Song of Ice and Fire Foreigner by C.J Cherryh The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare Sirantha Jax by Ann Aguirre Stardoc series by S.L. Viehl
I love mythical settings but really the backgrounds don't matter as much to me as the story line does. A well written story usually can take place anywhere (the moon) and I would love it!
I love the setting in the Fae world of the books I am reading now, first one was Five (Elemental Enmity #1), Dark Matter #2, and reading Genesis #3 now, which the setting is even more awesome (Think under the ocean city, they control the water element, so its super cool, you don't get wet, lol) these are by Christie Rich
My favorite book setting is definitely from the Vampire Academy Series. I love when authors have that boarding school setting. Thank you for a chance to win and for being a part of this fun and awesome blog hop!!
I'm not very original, because I have to go with the majority and say Hogwarts. The school, town and surrounding area was just so interesting. Bonnie Hilligoss/bonhill@speakeasy.net
I loved the setting of Beth Revi's books in Across The Universe. Godspeed sounded really neat. Not somewhere where I would want to live, but neat all the same :)
I love books set in foreign countries or jsut somewhere different for the characters, somewhere where the characters are discovering the place at the same time as me :)
