A Message from Kristen about If I Had Never Met You: From the minute song writer Jake Keller lays eyes on Addison Wade, a tune sets up residence in his head. As he gets to know her, the tune becomes a song. Their song. Addie's song. The stakes are the highest they've ever been for him when he finally sings it to her, but will it be enough to keep her? I can't thank Brad Yunek and Dan Keseloff enough for writing this beautiful song to accompany Jake and Addie's story. I hope you love it as much as I do! Kristen Proby - signature

About LISTEN TO ME: In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors—and into her heart. Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him—his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school—he’s all bad boy...exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need. Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him. Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?   Author Pic - Kristen ProbyAbout Kristen Proby: New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Kristen Proby is the author of the popular With Me in Seattle series. Burning Midnight by Will McIntosh

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Seventeen-year-old David Sullivan’s life is about to change—all because of one tiny, priceless item found in the murky bottom of a Brooklyn water tower.

Sully is a sphere dealer at a flea market. It doesn’t pay much—Alex Holliday’s stores have muscled out most of the independent sellers—but it helps him and his mom make rent.

No one knows where the brilliant-colored spheres came from. One day they were just there, hidden all over the earth like huge gemstones. Burn a pair and they make you a little better: an inch taller, skilled at math, better-looking. The rarer the sphere, the more expensive—and the greater the improvement.

When Sully meets Hunter, a girl with a natural talent for finding spheres, the two start searching together. One day they find a Gold—a color no one has ever seen. And when Alex Holliday learns what they have, he will go to any lengths, will use all of his wealth and power, to take it from them.

There’s no question the Gold is worth millions, but what does it actually do? None of them is aware of it yet, but the fate of the world rests on this little golden orb. Because all the world fights over the spheres, but no one knows where they come from, what their powers are, or why they’re here.

Goodreads Summary

After reading this book, we will all want a few spheres of our own to burn.  The spheres give the burner a little bit more skilled, better-looking, taller, etc...  Sully sells these spheres to support his mother.  Hunter is a natural finder and the pair work together to find and sell spheres.  When they find one sphere that no one has ever seen before they don't know what the sphere is worth or what the sphere will do.

Sully's character was nice enough. It was sweet that he helped and cared for his mom.  I liked how he was resourceful and brave.  Hunter leads him down the wrong path more than a few times, but he dumbly follows.  I didn't like how they jumped into things and didn't think ideas through.  Some of the scenes were a little rushed, others had surprising twists.  The ending was a little bit predictable, but the author did tie up loose ends nicely.  Overall, the story was a fun read and an interesting idea.

Love In London Contest!

Avon Books offers readers a chance to be whisked away to historic London in celebration of the publication of MY AMERICAN DUCHESS by Eloisa James and THE ROGUE NOT TAKEN by Sarah MacLean

NEW YORK, NY, February 10, 2016 –Romance readers who have dreamed about going on a grand adventure, like in the rollicking road-trip romp THE ROGUE NOT TAKEN by Sarah MacLean, or who have imagined themselves in the glittering ballrooms of London, just as an American miss finds herself in MY AMERICAN DUCHESS by Eloisa James, now have an opportunity to live those dreams. This February, Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, teams up with Design Hotels™, Savoteur, and BookingBuddy to give one lucky reader the chance to experience the best of two of the most highly-anticipated romance novels of the season with a marvelous London getaway.

Just as romance novels allow readers to escape from the everyday, the Love in London Sweepstakes will whisk the winner to another world. Avon Books, known for its London-set romance novels, and its partners are offering one winner $1000 toward airfare to jet across the pond for a two-night stay in the Charlotte Street Hotel, right next to trendy Soho and London’s theatre district. With colorful rooms themed around the Bloomsbury Group of fashionable intellectuals in early 20th-century London, the Charlotte Street Hotel makes for a charming—and literary—resting place. Fancy tea and crumpets before a whirlwind day of touring? Each morning the winner will be treated to a delicious English breakfast at the hotel. And when not exploring the historic streets of London, the winner can curl up with signed copies of both THE ROGUE NOT TAKEN and MY AMERICAN DUCHESS.

Both James and MacLean find London, with its storied history and romantic beauty, the perfect place to set their novels and hope the winner will be inspired by it as well.

Last year I wrote MY AMERICAN DUCHESS while living in Nottinghill, London,” James said. “It was marvelous to wander the streets of the city that I was writing about.  I’m so happy about Avon’s fantastic offer to send a reader to one of the most romantic, historical and written-about cities in the world!”

“London is my absolute favorite city in the world--the place that has inspired every one of my books,” MacLean said. “It's filled with stories, from the centuries-old townhouses in Mayfair to the well-worn cobblestones on the banks of the Thames. And that's all before the promise of a rogue not taken waiting around the next corner!”
